I'm always nervous about early boxsters because I've always heard their build quality was bit spotty. I think the way to go in the future on used cars will be early Caymans because they will be first gen cars but based on a platform that has been fleshed out already.

oh no doubt. At a near by Volvo dealer, they share shop space with Jag and Porsche. I remember tech telling me those early Boxsters were just a pain. The era including the 996 was just a WTF moment at Porsche. It will take some TLC but at that price, it might be a good deal. I've seen much cheaper running Boxsters here before but those were beat to hell.
